Bosch Ulwazi, a member of the multi-disciplinary Bosch Holdings group of companies, founded in 1961, has an opportunity for a Senior Resident Engineer. This position will be based in the Paddock area in southern KZN. This is a fixed-term contract for the duration of the construction works contract (approximately 12 months). Closing Date: 17:00 on 16 December 2024.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Site supervision of construction activities including the management of contractors and meeting critical project deadlines.
- Managing of Engineer’s site staff including Senior Materials Technician (SMT), Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE), student(s) and Project Liaison Officer (PLO).
- Monitor the Contractor’s progress against programme.
- Monitoring of construction activities to ensure quality in terms of the contract.
- Keep a daily diary and do weekly reporting of site activities to the Project Engineer.
- Completion of contract administration including payment certificate preparation.
- Ensure compliance with Bosch Ulwazi’s ISO 9001/2015 Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure full compliance with internal and external audits.
- Report daily to the Project Engineer on project implementation activities.
- Refer design changes to the Project Engineer.
- Liaise with the Contractor’s Site Agent regarding all aspects of the work.
- Assist the ARE’s in liaising with the relevant service providers to co-ordinate the alteration/relocation of their services.
- Assist the Project Engineer in compiling minutes of site meetings with the Contractor and Client.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- A BTech / BEng / BSc degree in Civil Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Civil Engineering site management.
- Professional registration with ECSA as an Engineer or Technologist.
- Experience on road periodic / special maintenance projects, road rehabilitation projects or new roads projects for provincial or national roads authorities.
- Working knowledge of FIDIC General Conditions of Contract.
- Must be capable of functioning independently and as part of a project team.
- Good leadership and communication skills.
- Solid computer skills - MS Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Good English language and report writing skills (read, write and speak).
- Effective interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- A valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
- Must be self-driven with a capacity for continuous self-improvement.
