This unique and centralised leadership role is crucial in fostering our core values by cultivating strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, including HR, IT, Operations, and Finance, to ensure alignment on facilities needs and initiatives.
Additionally, it involves overseeing third-party vendors and service providers to maintain high standards of service delivery, while also providing direction for the Stellenbosch office.
Facility Management:
- Manage day-to-day facility operations including security, maintenance, repairs, utilities, and vendor management.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Monitor the upkeep of equipment, machinery, and physical space, ensuring preventative maintenance is performed regularly.
Budget & Financial Oversight:
- Develop and manage the regional facilities budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions and value for money.
- Track and report financial performance against budget forecasts.
- Ensure procurement processes are followed, negotiating with suppliers and service providers to secure the best possible contracts.
Project Management:
- Oversee capital improvement projects, including office expansions, relocations, and refurbishments.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Manage timelines, resources, and risks associated with major projects.
Sustainability & Innovation:
- Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainability initiatives in facility operations.
- Implement innovative solutions that improve workplace efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Stay updated on industry trends and integrate best practices in facility management.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Ensure facilities adhere to local, regional, and national regulatory requirements.
- Oversee emergency preparedness plans, including fire safety, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential risks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field or relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in facilities management.
- Proven experience managing large-scale facilities and leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, sustainability practices, and building systems.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Budgeting and financial management experience.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in Facilities Management (CFM, FMP, or similar).
- Experience in managing facilities within a tech or financial services.
- Familiarity with facilities management software and technologies.
- Experience with green building initiatives and certifications (LEED, BREEAM).
