The Building Regulation Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that building projects comply with local and national building codes and regulations. This role involves providing expert guidance, coordinating with stakeholders, and maintaining thorough documentation to facilitate the seamless execution of building projects while upholding safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities: - Reviewing Plans: Carefully review building plans and blueprints to ensure they align with legal standards and building codes
- Liaising with Authorities: Act as a liaison between the company and local building control authorities for project approvals and inspections
- Conducting Site Checks: Visit construction sites to carry out compliance checks and monitor adherence to approved plans
- Documentation Preparation: Prepare detailed reports, documentation, and necessary applications related to building regulations
- Responding to Queries: Address questions and issues raised by building control officers, contractors, and project teams regarding compliance
- Compliance Audits: Conduct regular audits to ensure ongoing compliance throughout the building lifecycle
- Advising on Legal Changes: Keep up to date with new and evolving building regulations and inform project teams of any changes that may impact their work
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that construction meets quality standards in addition to regulatory compliance for safety and performance
- Providing Solutions: Work with design teams to modify plans and address compliance issues without significant delays or increased costs
- Reporting and Documentation: Compile comprehensive reports on regulatory issues, inspection results, and compliance status for project stakeholders
Required Knowledge and Experience: - Experience in Building Compliance: Proven experience working in a building control or regulatory compliance role within the construction industry
- Understanding of Legislation: In-depth knowledge of local, regional, and national building codes, regulations, and compliance procedures
- Project Coordination: Experience coordinating with different stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and government agencies
- Technical Expertise: Familiarity with building construction practices, safety standards, and design principles to effectively assess compliance
- Inspection and Auditing Skills: Experience in performing site inspections and audits to evaluate adherence to regulations and project specifications
Academic Qualifications: - Degree in Relevant Field: Diploma/bachelors degree in building surveying, Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (Advantageous)
- Professional Training: Additional training in building code compliance and safety regulations, such as courses offered by professional organizations or training institutions (Advantageous)
