Your opportunity:
The Research Officer is part of a team working at the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education and specifically in the Exercise Oncology Lab (Principal Investigator: Dr. Linda Trinh). The Research Officer supports various research and administrative aspects of several research projects, with a general focus on behaviour change and cancer survivorship. The lab engages in highly collaborative projects with other faculty members, as well as some of the largest cancer centres in Canada (Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Odette Cancer Centre). The Research Officer will regularly interact with staff, investigators, external researchers, faculty, and current or potential research participants to conduct and record research activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
- Following rules and procedural instructions when administering research studies
- Disseminating and collecting research surveys and questionnaires
- Tracking and monitoring research activities
- Maintaining information and databases on digital platforms
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Sciences or Kinesiology with a specialization in exercise oncology
- Minimum one year of experience co-ordinating and managing exercise oncology-related trials
- Minimum one year of experience working with cancer survivors
- Experience with the delivery of randomized controlled trials in exercise oncology
- Experience with device-measured physical activity and sedentary behaviour (e.g., accelerometers, Fitbits, inclinometers)
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access), online survey software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, leadership, time management, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques and software
- Ability to work independently, and also collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Proven ability to deal with people in a tactful and effective manner, ability to exhibit sound judgment in decision making, ability to work independently and in a team
- Problem solver project-related issues as they arise
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Must be able to work well under pressure, especially during peak study periods
