Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for an Accountant to join North Yorkshire Fire & Police at their Northallerton HQ.
This is a Permanent, full time position. The salary is 41k - 45k.
- To succeed in this role, you will hold or be actively studying for a Professional Accountancy Qualification either CCAB (CIPFA, ACA, ACCA) or CIMA. Alternatively, you will be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of experience and expertise.
- With well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, you will have experience of contributing to meetings and of providing financial advice whilst forming effective working relationships at all levels.
- You will be able analyse financial information and align financial resources to meet organisational requirements. You will also have a proven track record of delivering improvements in financial processes ensuring accuracy, consistency, reliability, and timeliness.
- You will have a good working knowledge of statutory and management accounting requirements alongside experience of reconciling financial reporting against operational activity.
- You will be hardworking, efficient, and motivated by results.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft Office suites including Excel at an advanced level and Word.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working closely with the Senior Accountants, you will contribute to high quality financial governance and compliance. You will Deputise for the Senior Accountants when required.
- Line management of both Senior Accounting Technicians and/or Accounting Technicians including recruitment, selection and performance management.
- Support the production and monitoring of Medium-Term Financial Plans responsible for budgeting and forecasting service provision and undertaking financial analysis and reporting as required. Preliminary financial analysis of capital and revenue programmes including whole life costing of projects.
- Undertake appropriate monthly budget monitoring to prepare financial management information that is responsive to the needs of clients and supports delivery of organisational objectives.
- Assist in the production of service delivery plans and associated business cases, co-ordinating the delivery of financial analysis and costing information. Provide financial advice to Budget Holders and business planning providing information with interpretation, for example, cost modelling and trend analysis.
- Deliver training to Budget Holders to enable effective budget management and use of resources.
- Provision of information and guidance on financial regulations and instructions, the Devolved Resource Manual (DRM) and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure the timely completion of control account reconciliation.
- Support on the closure of accounts and production of the statutory accounts for the NY PFCC Group, NY Police Force and NY Fire & Rescue Service. Production of working papers presented in accordance with relevant statute, accounting standards, codes of practice, good professional practice, and internal timetables.
- Oversee the financial accounting processes in relation to Capital, Treasury Management, Cashflow Forecasting, Pension Fund and IAS19 and VAT.
- Support on Financial systems development and maintenance providing system administration support as required to ensure continuous systems improvements.
- Ensure effective day to day management of the Transaction Processing team, providing data input and report processing, and ensuring activity is carried out in compliance with current legislation, regulations, and procedures.
- There are a number of Accountant roles across the Financial Accounting and Service Finance teams. Depending on the specific role allocated, a post holder will have direct responsibility for a specific business area. Post holders may rotate across business areas, or provide cover, as required.
