Job Overview
As a Junior Garment Technologist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the technical quality of our garment production process. Working closely with design, production, and quality teams, you will support the development and execution of garments from concept through to final production, focusing on fit, construction, and quality assurance. You will be responsible for the development of your own product area, whilst supporting the wider team with weekly workload, ensuring that each style meets relevant safety and performance requirements and design concept.
Minimum Requirements
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Fashion, Garment Technology, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of patternmaking, grading, garment construction, fit, and fabric properties.
- Basic knowledge of garment and fabric testing standards.
- Strong attention to detail and an understanding of garment quality standards.
- Experience in 3D fittings would be advantageous but not essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).

- Previous experience in a garment technologist role or an internship is a plus but not essential.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of garment specifications and technical packs for new styles.
- Lead fit sessions and oversee the fitting process, from first prototype to production sign-off, providing actionable feedback to supplier to maintain high-quality and sizing standards.
- Preparation of samples and reviewing fit comments.
- Send clear and concise fit and construction comments to the factories including following up on any issues during sealing ahead of production.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that garments meet quality and technical standards throughout all stages of product development and production.
- Manage wearer trials and work alongside fabric technologist in fabric development.
- Request, review and analyze test reports and work along with fabric technologist to drive solutions.
- Review of failed inspection reports and manage final outcome decisions with quality managers and buyers.
- Collaborate with quality inspectors on final inspection failures where commercial decisions may be required alongside quality managers.
- Conduct garment testing, including fabric testing, garment fittings, and durability checks.
- Help resolve technical issues throughout the production process, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Work with the production team to monitor garment quality during manufacturing.
- Maintain accurate records and update the internal systems with technical information.
- Analysis of customer complaints and store returns data to implement course correcting measures and reduce seasonal returns.
- Provide technical support to the design and buying teams when required.
- Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and ethical standards in all garment production processes.
- Assessment of BPS samples to make sure that production is in-line with bulk production specs and brand and product standards.
- Assisting in updating and maintaining supplier and quality assurance manuals.
- Follow grading rules and approve graded specs in readiness for production with supplier.
- Regular store visits to benchmark our quality and fits against the industry and perform in-store quality checks on bulk production.
- Pro-actively track timelines ahead of critical path meetings with buying and sourcing teams in order to highlight potential risk areas and work with other teams to find solutions to achieve delivery dates.
- Development and assessment of care labels and advising disclaimers where necessary.
- Build strong relationship with network of stores and customer services to access data on customer complaints and store defects.
- Assisting in supplier development and managing supplier conferences.
