Reporting to the Team Leader CCP, the Sourcing Specialist is responsible for identifying parts and materials that can potentially be manufactured or procured locally in South Africa. This role involves extensive research to find and onboard suitable local companies and suppliers, with a focus on optimizing the supply chain and reducing costs. The Sourcing Specialist also manages supplier relationships and ensure the continuous improvement of sourcing processes.

−Conduct market research to identify parts and materials that can be sourced locally.
−Analyse the current supply chain to identify potential areas for local sourcing.
−Evaluate the feasibility of local manufacturing options for specific parts.
−Research and identify potential local suppliers and manufacturers.
−Assess supplier capabilities, capacity, and quality standards.
−Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with new suppliers.
−Facilitate the onboarding process, ensuring suppliers meet company requirements and standards.
−Build and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers.
−Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
−Address and resolve any issues or challenges related to suppliers.
−Conduct regular reviews of supplier performance and identify areas for improvement.
−Analyse the cost benefits of local sourcing versus international procurement.
−Identify cost-saving opportunities through local sourcing initiatives.
−Prepare detailed reports and presentations on sourcing strategies and outcomes.
−Ensure all sourcing activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
−Assess and mitigate risks associated with local sourcing, including quality, supply continuity, and financial risks.
−Work closely with the Procurement, Engineering, and Quality Assurance teams to ensure the successful implementation of local sourcing strategies.
−Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements for parts and materials.
−Continuously seek out new opportunities for local sourcing and supplier development.
−Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and innovations in local manufacturing and procurement.
−Occasional travel to supplier sites and manufacturing facilities within South Africa.
Requirements
- National Senior Certificate and Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement or similar with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably with a focus on local sourcing .
