We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale road and transport infrastructure projects in Durban. The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, excellent project management skills, and in-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Management: Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.
- Site Management: Oversee site operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental requirements.
- Contract Administration: Manage contracts with contractors, suppliers, and consultants, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and resolving disputes.
- Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with the project.
- Stakeholder Management: Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of construction professionals, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
Requirements
- Qualifications: B.Tech Civil Engineering (minimum)
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in construction management, preferably in road and transport infrastructure projects
- Certifications: Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) would be an advantage
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of:
- GCC (General Conditions of Contract)
- FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers)
- COLTO (Committee of Land Transport Officials)
- COTO (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research)
- SANS (South African National Standards)
- MS Projects (Microsoft Project management software)
