Introduction
City Logistics is currently recruiting for an experienced and qualified Linehaul Controller to join their team in Durban.
Responsibilities:
- Daily planning with the Linehaul team and their requirements
- Debriefing of drivers - ensuring all required documentation is handed in.
- Reporting mechanical/tyre breakdowns and other relevant incidents to the Control Centre.
- Keep the senior controller/manager fully informed of all breakdowns/accidents/incidents.
- Ensure the smooth and efficient running of vehicles.
- Address all identified risks and inefficiencies to minimize losses or downtime.
- Follow all SOPs in the business.
- Communicate and liaise with drivers and customers.
- Support all operational processes.
- Ensure all PODs, documents, including receipts, are received and processed on time.
- Support finance to ensure all loads are billed out on time.
- Ensure all deliveries, sorting, loading, off-loading, and collections are completed timeously.
- Maintain sound and amicable relations with both clients and colleagues.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping.
- Refer unresolved queries to your manager immediately.
- Be diligent and take initiative.
- Keep the Operations Manager fully informed of all plans, progress, and problems.
- Organize and supervise all vehicle movements on and off the loading bays and around the yard.
- Ensure drivers are compliant with regards to PDPS.
- Ensure vehicles are COF on time.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric would be an advantage.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a logistics environment.
- Advanced knowledge of external systems regarding customer/supplier platforms.
- Good customer interaction and telephone etiquette.
- Knowledge of GIT and insurance processes.
- Understanding of City Logistics operational procedures, policies, and processes.
- Experience in planning.
- Ability to work under pressure and make good decisions.
- Technical knowledge of vehicles and trailers.
- Achievement orientation.
- Ability to diagnose problems and effect corrective and preventative measures.
- Analytical thinking.
- Attention to detail, able to work independently.
