Job Summary
The Market Nursery Project Manager is responsible for leading, planning, organizing, and supervising nursery operations and landscaping projects for the Alpine District including locations in Aspen, Steamboat Springs, Telluride and Grand Junction. This includes managing tree inventories, setting up and maintaining tree holding yards, tracking costs and managing the landscape and tree planting service lines in all four locations. While the position is based in Carbondale, frequent travel between office locations will be required. The candidate must have a strong knowledge of landscape design, horticulture, and project management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and supervises tree inventory programs
- Plans, organizes, and manages large-scale landscape development projects
- Collaborates with architects, engineers, and consultants to design and implement new landscape projects
- Prepares and manages budgets for landscape projects and maintenance activities
- Purchases plant materials for annual sales
- Provides training on safety and standardization of tree installation and other landscape related services throughout the district.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in horticulture, landscape design, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in landscape project management or related field
- Knowledge of plant care, design principles, irrigation systems, and landscape maintenance practices
- Strong project management skills, ability to set priorities, develop schedules, and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Experience with computer programs such as GIS, CAD, and MS Office
- Valid driver's license
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, lift and carry heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and operate power tools and equipment
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
