Position Title
Contract Specialist (24 Months – Fixed Term)

Position Overview
This position will provide specialist support to relevant stakeholders with regards to Contract Management. The Contract Specialist is responsible to issue and evaluate tenders and to compile and maintain contracts in a manner that adds value to the business and minimizes contractual risks, whilst adhering to governance and legal requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Drafting of commercially sound tender documentation to obtain price as well as evaluate the suitability of Contractors.
- Provide expert knowledge on the commercial evaluation of tenders to determine commercial competitiveness.
- The drafting of commercially sound high risk/ high value contract documents to ensure that the company receives optimum competitive advantage, exposed to minimum risk, minimize loss and include continuous improvement objectives.
- Maintain existing contracts by ensuring that amendments are done timeously and in such a way that the company maintains above mentioned benefits of the contracts.
- Negotiate contract price adjustment and maintain long term sustainable contractor and company relationships, while securing optimum prices for the company.
- Receive, evaluate and make recommendations on value engineering/ optimization and other contractual change proposals.
- Interpret and explain contract requirements, and terms and conditions to stakeholders to support compliance with statutory and policy requirements and inform decision-making.
- Initiate and manage the vendor non-conformance process in-line with contractual obligations.
- Continuously drive savings and payables optimization.
- Assisting the contract owner with addressing matters relating to contractor performance.
- Increasing contract and coded spend to optimum levels thereby reducing rogue spend.
- Assist Senior Contracts specialists and the Contracts Manager with ad hoc administrative duties to enhance efficiency and expedite commodity strategies, thereby supporting overall supply chain management (SCM) performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- LLB Degree/Commercial Law/Contractual Law/B.Com required
- Computer literate (MS Office Suite)
- Valid Code B driver’s license
- Fluency in English
- Min 2-3 years’ work experience in contracts function
