Management Accountant

Location: Saffron Walden, Essex
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience)
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

Are you an experienced senior accountant with management accounting expertise looking for a stable, rewarding role closer to home working for an online business?

We are seeking a Management Accountant to oversee all areas of accounting within our online retail organization. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will manage day-to-day financial operations and provide leadership to one accounts assistant.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all bookkeeping and accounting processes.
Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
Prepare year-end files for external auditors and assist with audit requirements.
Submit VAT returns and environmental returns.
Process monthly payroll data.
Maintain the fixed asset register.
Handle monthly prepayments, accruals, calculations, and postings.
Conduct ledger and bank reconciliations.
Manage sales and purchase ledger processing.
Ensure compliance with relevant financial laws and regulations.
Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls and procedures.

Skills and Experience Required:

Qualified and experienced accountant with at least 5 years in a senior accounting role.
Background in retail, stock, or similar trading organizations.
Highly organized and detail-oriented with a reliable work ethic.
Proficient in SAGE (preferably SAGE 200) and common Microsoft Office programs.
Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Adaptable and willing to assist with any task required.
