Position: Construction Manager - Rail/ Civil Infrastructure

IR35 Status Determination: Outside IR35 Off Payroll Working Rules

Rate: Up to 350.00 per day (Negotiable depending on location and experience)

Length of Contract Assignment : 6 months (rolling)

Start Date: Immediate

Environment: Overhead Line Electrification and Civil Engineering contractor. Site and office based for an emerging business supporting projects up to £2m in value nationwide.

Location: Office based in Manchester, working on UK projects. Likely North East initially

The company and group:

The client is an emerging OLE engineering and civil construction contractor who works closely with a wide range of prestigious managing and subcontract clients across a number of disciplines within the UK rail industry.

These disciplines include; Design, Engineering, Construction & Maintenance.

Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Construction Manager, the Construction Manager will oversee a range of OLE/ construction projects to completion. Adhering to the project schedule and timeline, delivering the project safely, on time and within budget.

Main duties day to day will include;

* Planning, Scheduling and coordination the project strategy and design, reporting progress and budget matters to the client.

* Preparing and negotiating timetables, cost estimates, budgets and contracts

* Managing the construction process, supervising all activity on site and effectively responding to delays.

* Collaborating with specialists such as engineers, sub-contractors and end clients.

* Complying with legal requirements, safety and construction regulations and keeping daily logs.

* Ordering plant, general equipment and materials.

* Hiring and instructing employees, temporary workers and subcontractors.

* Enforcing safety procedures at all times, minimising risk and ensuring the correct use of PPE and other safety equipment.

Desired Skills and Experience

* A minimum of 5 years operating as a Construction Manager within a Civil Engineering environment (Civil Infrastructure; Rail, Highways, Marine, Ports, Airfields, Utilities)

* OLE/ Rail experience preferred (Not essential)

* SMSTS certified

* Temp Works Supervisor

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Strong IT skills using full MS office suite and internal software
