Job Description
ROLE PURPOSE
This person will be responsible for providing professional and specialised network installation and support services to the Sales division, to provide network solutions that meet our customer needs, in particular the IT LAN / Wireless environment.
ROLE REQUIREMENT
The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for all or part of these areas:
- Install and maintain network LAN/Wireless solutions
- Troubleshoot network issues, ensure network security, create and configure network solutions
- Ensure that customer requirements are understood and implement accordingly
- Deploy best practices, standards, and processes to deliver network ICT solutions
- Technical implementation of network proposals
- Apply security updates
- Assess Network performance
- Provide technical input to RFP/RFI/RFB tender requirements
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line network support
JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Conduct technical LAN / wireless consultations to customers
- Facilitate demand creation customer workshops
- Provide Technical Consultation to Account Managers and Project Managers
- Facilitate customer technical LAN / wireless workshops
- Research leading LAN / wireless technology solution and services
- Provide internal technical product training / updates to peers and Sales team
- Keeping LAN / wireless certification up to date
- Knowledge of LAN / wireless standards
- Knowledge of Cisco / Meraki / Ruckus LAN / wireless products essential
- Ability to work in high stakes environments with multiple senior stakeholders and with a cross industry focus
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Matric Certificate essential
- Cisco LAN/Wireless Certified (CCNP) or equivalent
- 5 -7 years relevant experience essential within telecommunication industry
- 5- 7 years in the IT industry and/or a system/network admin role.
- 5- 7 years working experience with LAN / wireless products / solutions
- 5 – 7 years working experience in related LAN / wireless technologies
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Must have comprehensive knowledge with Cisco wireless products (or equivalent)
- Design and implementation of network and wireless infrastructures
- Working knowledge of Radius, Active Directory and Location Based Services like Cisco CMX or Ruckus vSPOT.
- Detailed networking designing skills with in depth knowledge and ability to train junior engineers
- Strong passion for LAN / wireless, understanding application weakness, and designing solutions to protect against these.

Additional requirements
- Working hours Mon. – Fri. 08h00 – 17h00
- Must be willing to travel, work overtime on request, especially month end or financial year end.
