Overview
An established company is seeking a Procurement Manager/Buyer to join their team. The Procurement Manager will lead and manage a team, ensuring efficient procurement, pricing, and supply chain management. This role involves responsibility for all procurement activities, maintaining supplier relationships, overseeing pricing strategies, and coordinating dispatch and receiving processes to support business objectives.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12/Matric
- Minimum 5 years experience in procurement management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven experience managing supplier relationships, pricing strategies, and procurement budgets.
- Proficiency in ERP and/or procurement software.
Job Responsibilities
Procurement and Supplier Management
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to source and secure quality products and services at competitive prices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiating contracts and pricing agreements to maximize value.
- Identify specifications and requirements for tenders, evaluating costs to establish competitive sales prices
- Monitor market trends and supplier performance, making adjustments as necessary to maintain a high standard of service and cost-effectiveness.
- Evaluate and approve supplier contracts, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
Team Management
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of 10 employees across procurement, dispatch, and receiving functions.
- Provide ongoing coaching and support, conducting regular performance evaluations and setting clear performance goals.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven team environment, encouraging best practices and continuous improvement.
Pricing Strategy and Management
- Oversee the pricing strategy, ensuring products are competitively priced while maintaining profitability.
- Collaborate with sales and finance teams to establish pricing policies and ensure alignment with market conditions and customer needs
- Continuously monitor costs, adjust pricing as needed and ensure accurate pricing ingormation is maintained across systems
Inventory, Dispatch, and Receiving
- Oversee the dispatch and receiving processes, ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Manage inventory levels effectively to balance demand and supply, minimizing stockouts and reducing excess inventory.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards across all warehouse and distribution activities.
Operational Efficiency and Process Improvement
- Analyze and improve operational processes, identifying and implementing solutions to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Develop KPIs for operational activities and ensure performance metrics are met or exceeded.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline workflows and optimize the procurement and supply chain process.
- Utilize ERP systems to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiencies
- Monitor and analyse ERP data to improve decision-making across sales, warehouse, buying, and tender management functions
Budgeting and Financial Reporting
- Prepare and manage the procurement budget, providing regular reports on spend, savings, and cost projections.
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of all financial aspects related to procurement and supply chain activities.
- Contribute to forecasting and financial planning efforts to support business goals.
