MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To ensure continuous safe patient care and a positive patient experience by coordinating clinical and non-clinical resources and services at night.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
- Continuously deliver a quality service to patients in accordance with patient safety standards.
- Achieve the clinical quality standards according to policies and procedures.
- Ensure the optimal utilisation and competence of staff whose behaviour reflects the organisation’s core values.
- Ensure continuation of patient care through effective supervision.
- Co-ordinate resources efficiently to enhance safe patient care.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: B degree or diploma in nursing.
DESIRED EDUCATION: Relevant Management and leadership qualification.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 5 yrs clinical experience as a Professional Nurse.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE: 2 to 3 yrs management experience at the unit level (SPN/UM).
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- People Management
- Risk management processes and procedures
- Infection prevention and control
- Knowledge of continuous improvement and quality assurance methodologies
- Nursing functional knowledge
- Human resource processes including employee relations
- Complaint management
