An exciting opportunity exists at Nampak Metals-Springs for a Print Technologist. This position reports directly to the Unit Manager and is graded at Peromnes 09.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Assist and support with problem areas which restrict the plant from reaching targets
- Liaise with divisional planning department regarding schedule changes on an ongoing basis to ensure printing jobs are prepared accordingly to meet production requirements.
- Involvement in troubleshooting to investigate causes of printing defects and high spoilage
- Liaise with Can-makers to ensure inker units, decorator and varnish units are in perfect working condition and that correct maintenance is carried out by workshop for repeated quality printing
- Monitoring the purchasing of UV Coating, Ink Rollers, Blankets, and Printing Plates to be controlled within budget
- Take part in improving the printing defects and spoilage.
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should posses:
- Be a qualified artisan (Printer Trade / Lithography)
- Have at least 2 - 3 years' experience in in a high-speed environment preferably in Can Making
- Ability to work independently
- Work very closely with production department
- Be willing to work overtime / call-outs when necessary
- Be able to work under pressure and with minimal supervision
