We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Guest House Manager with a hands-on approach and a commitment to delivering an outstanding guest experience. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can take ownership of all operational aspects of a guest house. If you have strong administrative skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to lead a team to excellence, this might be the role for you.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations: Manage guest relations, housekeeping, breakfast service, maintenance, sales & marketing, and staff coordination to ensure smooth day-to-day functioning.
Guest Satisfaction: Ensure guest rooms and common areas are kept to the highest cleanliness and comfort standards; promptly handle guest complaints and manage online reviews to uphold the guest house's reputation.
Inventory and Maintenance: Maintain and manage inventory and stock, and coordinate necessary maintenance work to keep the property in top condition.
Financial Management: Oversee accounting duties, including daily cash-ups, petty cash management, and monthly reconciliations; manage budgets and provide monthly financial reports to the head office.
Staff Management: Schedule and roster staff effectively, motivate the team, and provide ongoing training to maintain high service standards; ensure payroll data is accurately submitted on time.
Compliance: Ensure all statutory hospitality requirements are met, including health, safety, and licensing regulations.
Requirements:
Proven experience in a similar guest house or boutique hotel management role.
Strong administrative, financial, and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage warmly with guests and lead a team.
Proficiency in MS Office, email, and Nightsbridge (or similar booking software).
Ability to work flexible hospitality shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Must have a valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
Must reside in the Stellenbosch area or be willing to relocate.
