Tygerberg Hospice requires the services of a dynamic Registered Nurse to work at our Intermediate Care Facility based on the grounds of Karl Bremer Hospital. The successful candidate will work 12 hours per shift on a roster basis.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 5 years’ experience as a registered nurse.
- Registered with SANC and must have professional indemnity.
- A certificate in palliative care would be an advantage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Planned patient care is rendered according to SANC and the Nursing Act 1978.
- Manage a shift and work within an Interdisciplinary team.
- Stringent observation and evaluation of the patients’ condition.
- Ensure medication compliance.
- Ensure patients receive total nursing care, all symptoms are monitored, and interventions recorded.
- Liaise closely with the manager and other members of the IDT.
- Provide comprehensive palliative care to patients and families.
- Be able to monitor and assess specific symptoms.
- To be familiar with procedures in Palliative care, e.g., Syringe drivers, Complex dressings.
- All observations and interventions to be recorded, when necessary, reported to the IDT.
- Individual needs of patients are met through professional and regulatory standards.
- Patient records accurately recorded, maintained, and stored.
- All tasks and responsibilities performed in accordance with strict infection control and Health & Safety policies of Tygerberg Hospice.
- Appropriate risk assessment tools utilised to identify actual and potential risks and appropriate interventions implemented.
