Position Summary

In this role you will be responsible to establish a detailed production schedule according to MPS Plan, prepared by the MPS planner. Monitor execution of the DPS plan and report back to all planning and manufacturing partners on its status. Plan the DPS time bucket in a sequenced, capacity constrained and executable schedule. Ensure raw and pack materials availability including imported commodity materials.
A day in the life of a Materials Planner:
- Manage and maintain a motivated SMM/MRP Team to continuously ensure RMPM availability and long term visibility on material requirements.
- Ensure Best practices implementation and master data quality across the Region
- Ensure availability of materials to fulfill the requirements of the production plans within the agreed cost boundaries.
- Provide the right tools to support the SMM processes focusing on meeting customer service objectives whilst maintaining optimal stock cover taking into account distribution costs.
- Plan the Halb Materials that is supplied from Nestle affiliates
Raw and Pack Materials Buying (Local & Import Sourcing)
- Ensure raw and pack materials availability for production through purchase order management and Supplier Relations
- Maintain stock holding policies within agreed stock cover targets
- Manage and provide inputs to NPD initiatives
- Drive on time payment through resolution of parked and blocked invoices and GRIR Management
- Manage purchase order delivery dates and quantities
- Consistent follow-up on orders with suppliers
- Avoid write-offs and SLOB materials
- Continuous interfacing with external parties i.e. Shipping lines/agents, customs & SARS
- Weekly exception reports – monitoring
- Feedback on variances and corrective actions
- Collaboration with suppliers on Long term forecasts
- Management of Claims, Returns and Refusals
Business Excellence & Process Improvement:
- Ensure that all IMM/MRP Best Practices are embedded and applied in all Factories
- Develop and implement a training plan for MRP Planners
- Define the stock policy and management approach to be applied to each SKU within their portfolio using RPIO tools (updated twice per year)
- Develop & drive health check improvements;
- Support the IMM Processes by implementing qualitative meetings (MRP Meetings, MBP)
Critical Materials:
- Review and challenge long term requirements for Critical materials (common & single source)
- Ensure supply for Critical materials across Region (contracts, MVRG, arbitration bail out decisions)
- Develop and implement the appropriate tools to drive Material Phase In Phase Out across the Region
Strategic Material Planning:
- Aggregation of Material Risks across Region on weekly basis for Availability Review;
- Review long term material risks in collaboration with Procurement and key suppliers
- Champion Material requirements used for DF & AVC
- Lead the Supplier Facing Supply Chain initiative across the Region
- Drive MRA & Supplier Service Improvement
What will make you successful?
- Degree in Supply Chain or related
- 3-5 years’ experience within a Nestle market, region or Imports or Exports environment
- Experience with and strong focus on customers.
- Strong Supply Chain, which includes Physical Logistics, Customer Service, and Demand Management knowledge and expertise.
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
