Position Overview:
Laboratory Team Leader
Leeds
37.5 hours /week
Job Description:
Based at our state-of-the-art UK laboratory in Leeds, our dedicated fluid and condition monitoring services team are experts in analysing, interpreting and providing detailed evaluations for oil, fuel, coolant, diesel exhaust fluid and transformer oil samples from all types of equipment. We are looking for a Laboratory Team Leader to join our team.
You will be responsible for day-to-day supervision and leadership, preparing and analysing samples, ensuring regulatory compliance of equipment, stock control, training and providing technical analytical support. One of the primary responsibilities is to ensure the seamless daily operation of the laboratory, deputising for the Laboratory Operations Supervisor as necessary, and overseeing all aspects of staff supervision.
Operational Excellence: Oversee the day-to-day operation for various manual and automated analytical techniques. Drive operational performance - evolve processes to enable 1 day turn around.
Leading a team: Ensure the team are trained and competent in the skills required for their roles, daily supervision of technicians providing adequate support and instruction.
Health & Safety, Quality & Environment: Work closely with team members to ensure adherence with policy and procedures. Manage and update laboratory documentation.
Equipment & Instruments: Ensure regular calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment and coordinate instruments repairs with the OEM.
Technical Support: Provide technical support to the team and carry out/assist in method development to new and existing equipment. Validate and commission new instruments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Team Leadership and training experience in a laboratory environment (desirable)
Effective data analysis, document control, and technical bench skills
Strong problem-solving, training, team building, and mentoring and coaching abilities
Scientific Instrument calibration & maintenance
Method Development and Validation (desirable)
Laboratory Process, Procedures & Policies
Health & Safety, Environment & Quality Procedures & Policies
Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications
