Job Overview:
A millwright is a professional who installs, dismantles, repairs, reassembles, and moves machinery. They perform these duties in factories and power plants. Millwrights are also responsible for the creation of maintenance plans to keep the machines running as efficiently as possible. They can also be called in on an emergency basis if equipment breaks unexpectedly. They can help get the machine repaired and running again, helping to reduce downtime for the company.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Attend to breakdowns.
- Preventative action plans to minimise breakages.
- Regular inspections on equipment to identify hazards, defects or need for repair.
- Attend to scheduled maintenance and shutdown.
- Assist with cost estimates and drawings/preliminary sketches
- Install/connect new equipment such as PLC. Invertor variable drives and programming knowledge.
- Ensuring compliance to electrical standards.
- Troubleshooting, and repairs to all electronic, electrical, and computer-based equipment
- Ability to analyse electronic circuits
- Conduct fault finding, testing and repairs
Qualifications and experience :
- Millwright ( Electrical/Mechanical) trade qualification
- Electrical knowledge is advantageous
- Computer Literacy in MS Office
- Grade 12 certificate
- At least 3 years experience in a production and industrial environment
- Experience in Pneumatics and Hydraulics
- Mechanical skills and understanding of Conveyor systems
- Knowledge both Single phase 220VAC and 3 phase systems up to 400VAC electrical systems
- Knowledge of process systems (including electronics, control valves, PLCs, software and hardware, and Mechanical experience)
