Our Cash Management & Payments Platform, Core Banking & Payment Lab teams aim to deliver the highest quality software whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring and supporting colleague development. This is a software engineering level role within the Lab that will blend deep domain / technical expertise with great passion for mentoring and developing software’s in delivering technical solutions to become the bank of the future.
A great opportunity has arisen within Liquidity Management feature team as a Software Engineer in the Core Banking & Payment Lab. You'll collaborate with Product and other Engineering teams, driving efforts to create, build, support and improve our software. As a software engineer within the Lab, you'll practice quality Engineering methods that align with Architectural and bank strategies.
You’ll be familiar with the group’s engineering design standards needed to engineer the best solutions and a strong proponent of coding best practises. You’ll be curious and innovative in your approach to learning, keen on learning while doing and supporting others to learn.
What you’ll do
As a Software Engineer, you’ll work with a range of key customers, external partners and our internal development and testing teams, to support the successful achievement of IT strategies.
You'll be responsible for delivering high quality maintainable software, support members of the team and support the applications developed and deployed by the team into production.
Provide analytical support in various aspects of Application Maintenance (Production Support) particularly with respect to system monitoring, Daily and Weekly checks and handling anomalies and exceptions including timely reporting
Codes, tests, debugs, documents, implements and maintains software applications
Develop program logic for new applications or analyses and modifies logic in existing application
Investigate and establish mitigation for production incidents
Identify, design and implement technical solutions as both small enhancements and in response to incidents
Contribute to technical design discussions to ensure optimal solutions are achieved
What you’ll need
Deep understanding of the entire software development lifecycle and experience in end-to-end delivery of software products.
Hands on Software Engineering background with good technical experience building medium/large scale applications in Java, using a fairly broad set of tools, techniques, and platforms, including cloud hosting.
Experience programming in the following languages: Java, JavaScript, PowerShell or UNIX Bash/Shell scripting, SQL.
Extensive experience with Mainframe Environment, TWS Scheduler (OPCA) Job scheduling, JCL, SCM tool (ENDEVOR), Connect Direct scripting
Strong Exposure to WAS application servers & Linux servers and experience with HTML, CSS, and related web technologies
Understanding of Code Version controlling /Code deployment tools - GitHub, Jenkins and Urbancode.
It would be great if you also had
Banking Domain knowledge and experience
Direct Client facing experience including reporting and presentation
Familiarity with public cloud and associated technologies (Azure, AWS or GCP)
