We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and compassionate Theatre Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to join our AfPP accredited Theatres team as a Senior Theatre Practitioner.
As a Senior Theatre Practitioner, you will be a key member of our multi-disciplinary Theatres team, working to ensure the highest standards of clinical care and safety for patients within the theatre unit whilst mentoring junior staff.
This role is ideally suited to a registered practitioner (Nurse or ODP) with proven experience working in scrub, anaesthetics and / or recovery, who is looking to progress their perioperative career in a clinical environment that will support your ongoing professional development to help you operate at your fullest potential.
This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week, working 3 days, between Monday and Saturday 07:45 – 17:45. You will work 1 Saturday per month.

Role Responsibilities
As a Senior Theatre Practitioner you will:
Work primarily as a scrub practitioner, occasionally being required to work as an anaesthetic and / or recovery practitioner.
Lead and mentor junior members of the team, deputising for the Lead Theatre Practitioner when necessary.
Communicating effectively with other departments e.g. Sterile Services, Wards, and Imaging department to ensure efficient patient care.
Preparing operating and anaesthetic rooms for surgery as required. To include equipment and supplies required for specific procedures, ensuring appropriate use of resources and minimal waste.
Ensuring the highest standards of infection prevention and control are carried out.
Assessing patient care requirements, implementing care and evaluating outcomes.
Person Specification
Essential
Be a registered Practitioner (RN or ODP)
Have experience in planning, organising and running lists within the theatre suite.
Experience of supervising staff and scheduling operating lists
Have evidence of continuous professional development and its application.
Desirable
Post registration qualification as Practice Supervisor or Assessor
Post registration qualification as Surgical First Assistant
Post registration clinical experience in at least 2 disciplines within the perioperative environment, including Anaesthetics, in an acute hospital (NHS or Private) within the last 18 months.
