POST TITLE: HEAD: CREATIVE STUDIOS AND COMMUNICATION (ONE POST)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides strategic leadership in managing a functional team, overseeing graphic, and video support while managing the Creative Studios;
- Responsible for Institutional Teaching and Learning (T&L) marketing, including publications, reviews, and website management, in collaboration with Faculties and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Academic;
- Collaborate with Faculties and Deputy Deans T&L to align marketing initiatives with faculty-specific teaching and learning priorities;
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the visibility of the University’s Teaching & Learning achievements across multiple platforms, including social media, institutional publications, and the University’s website;
- Leads Education Innovation (EI) departmental marketing, including managing the website, Annual Report, and key teaching and learning events, such as the Flexible Futures Conference;
- Keep abreast with developments in education technology and subject-specific areas through continuous national and international research;
- Manage institutional multi-stakeholder projects;
- Benchmark trends in the field of video and technology and related areas;
- Compile divisional personnel, capital, and operational budgets on an annual basis;
- Ensure that appropriate financial processes and controls exist for the management of funds;
- Manage annual budgets and control income and expenditure through monthly reports;
- Manage and guide contractual agreements with service providers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant Masters’ degree or equivalent qualification;
- Six years of work experience in video/visual technology, marketing/communication, preferably in a Higher Education environment;
- Five years of project/line management experience in the field, preferably in a Higher Education context.

- Skill and ability in coordinating, facilitating, and participating in a collaborative approach to the completion of tasks or assignments;
- Ability to motivate and engage employees through effective communication;
- Ability to identify and develop objectives, methods, and quality control measures;
- Ability to assign work and to establish work rules and acceptable levels of quality and quantity of work;
- Ability to measure and evaluate work processes, services, and products to achieve organisational goals;
- Ability to identify problems, determine possible solutions, and actively work to resolve the issues;
- Ability to make decisions without regard to personal prejudices, biases, and experiences;
- Ability to explore alternatives and positions to reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all parties;
- Possesses the initiative and drive to set and achieve goals independently;

- Ability to prepare budget documents and reports;
- Ability to listen to symptom descriptions; analyse problems; respond effectively and provide constructive feedback to the client on problem resolution.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
- A relevant Doctorate;
- Six years of work experience in:
- Higher Education environment;
- Ergonomic design of education venues;
- Database design and management;
- Research on the use of Educational Technology in Higher Education;
- High-level internal negotiation and negotiation with suppliers;
- Knowledge of budgeting and finance.
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
