Job Title: Principal Engineer – Support Engineering (Control Systems)

What you’ll be doing:
- Developing, managing and structuring the support strategy of a safety critical control system from initial system design right through the product lifecycle to in-service support and finally disposal
- Ensuring the “AVC One Team” Plans and Processes are valid and available for the end to end Supportability Lifecycle
- Interfacing with Support Teams to ensure the AVCM strategies support the Whole Boat Supportability Strategies
- Interfacing with the Shore Integration Facility and Test & Commissioning Teams to ensure the Plans and Processes are valid and available to support the AVCM Supportability Strategy
- Facilitating Workshops and Stakeholder engagement to assist in the development and maturation of the AVCM Supportability Strategies
- Ensuring technical activities are performed in accordance with engineering procedures and are compliant with the AVC Engineering Management Plan and associated subservient plans
Your skills and experiences:
- Understanding of Supportability Processes such as; Maintainability Analysis Report (MAR), Level of Repair Analysis (LoRA), Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Training Needs Analysis (TNA)
- Demonstrable understanding of support engineering activities in accordance with defence & international standards such as DEF STAN 00-600 and or ASD S3000L
- Experience of support engineering frameworks throughout the lifecycle
- Demonstrable experience of working with control systems
- Degree or equivalent and relevant experience in a STEM subject
- Member of or working towards membership of IET/ IMECHe
- Knowledge and experience of working within complex engineering projects

The System Design team:
You will be working within a multidiscipline system design team on one of the most technologically advanced programmes in Europe. You will be part of a team working on the manoeuvring control systems for the platform, referred to as Active Vehicle Control. The systems you will work on are complex, niche, and novel, which provides many challenges and the opportunity to be involved with cutting edge technology development. An agile dynamic working environment within a large team provides ample opportunity for further learning and career development. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
