This exciting opportunity will report to Ghulam Mustafa, Site Head of Quality. Here, you'll be based in our modern dairy milk powder plant, as part of the Quality team consisting of 7 members. Mustafa’s leadership style is collaborative, promotes autonomy, and prioritizes the needs of employees and production operations.
Overview
Reporting to the Quality System Manager based at our state-of-the-art Belview site, the Quality Specialist will be responsible for end-to-end review of quality-related activities and products related to quality & food safety parameters to ensure products meet high levels of compliance and customer requirements. A key deliverable for the role will be to timely check all product process-related documentation/logs and review all analytical results to the respective material numbers within defined timelines.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a team player who possesses strong technical ability, is adept at building cross-functional relationships, and has the ability to work on their own initiative.
Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for batch documentation required for grading/release of all finished products.
- Review daily production & quality records log books for product release, report deviations CCP & OPRP, RFT review.
- Quality and process logbooks creation/review, logbook archiving and management.
- Liaise with production staff and Quality Control Manager regarding Quality Control status of products.
- Sensory analysis of raw materials and release of raw and packing materials after reviewing all quality & food safety parameters.
- Lead Documentation management systems and ownership of the quality document library, documentation lifecycle management, develop and review documentation as appropriate.
- Support to maintain customer product specifications, develop and implement production specifications based on customer requirements and regulations.
- Support Root Cause Analysis investigations into final product deviations.
- Manage customer & DAFM (Department of Agriculture Food & Marine) sampling, responsible for sample preparation, its document preparation, and timely dispatch to customers.
- Work as backup to other quality roles on a need basis, especially product grading.
- Support Skimmed Milk Concentrate process, prepare weekly Certificate of Analysis and Reconciliation of protein and Total Solids.
- Support change control related to specifications, review of customer and internal specifications, and ensure all finished products & Manufacturing specifications are maintained.
- Support site CAPA (Corrective Action Preventive Action) process including assignment of effective RCA’s (root cause actions) for all operational quality deviations to the appropriate owners and driving these action owners to deliver robust CAPA to agreed timelines.
- Support in internal external audits, non-compliances and actions management.
- Any other improvement projects and jobs assigned by the Head of Quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in food sciences or dairy technology.
- At least 3 years’ experience in Quality Control/Quality Assurance/Quality Systems and documentation.
- Knowledge of Dairy powders products, processes, specifications, and recipes is an advantage.
- Strong communications with multi-functional stakeholders, including customers.
- Quality Systems Audits and documentation experience.
- Computer literate SAP and working knowledge of LIMS, Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, etc.
- Demonstrate attention to detail to do the job at a high level of accomplishment.
- Demonstrate an ability to lead and drive change to achieve organization standards, strong technical ability.
- Ability to analyze data, recognize trends and recommend actions to drive continuous improvement.
