ABOUT HILLSIDE:
Our Hillside Aluminium smelter in Richards Bay produces high-quality, primary aluminium for the domestic and export markets.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
This role is a permanent full-time position. As the Superintendent HSE , you will be required to lead the HSE Execution Function on site in order to ensure compliance with relevant HSE legislation, company and Global HSE Standards and to assist in facilitating successful delivery of the South32 Care Strategy.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Supporting Line in effectively delivering on legal, company and operational HSE requirements and driving improvement.
- Leading the HSE Function and teams on site.
- Ensuring that sound risk and change management processes are established, implemented and reviewed within the HSE disciplines.
- Facilitating the implementation of company-related HSE standards and processes.
- Managing and delivering effective occupational health and hygiene processes and services.
- Managing contracted emergency services and field response teams (FRT).
- Leading, facilitating or participating in incident investigations where required.
- Assisting operations to analyse incidents and review data in order to identify systemic issues and improvement opportunities to effectively manage material risk.
ABOUT YOU:
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Production / heavy Industry environment.
- Specialist knowledge of HSE requirements relevant to smelting.
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years in a supervisory role.
Qualifications for this role are:
- Degree/BTECH/National Diploma in Health Safety / Environment / Engineering.
