Job Advert Summary
Reporting to the Process Coordinator-Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision, control, and organization of the Operations staff under his/her control to ensure that potable water complies with SANS CODE 0241 class 1 and Rand Water Production Standards and that the supply of water to customers is met. The incumbent will be overall responsible for the pumping and water purification processes. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for HT switching/lockouts, pump set lockouts, and pipeline isolations.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12
- National Diploma in Water Care or equivalent OR Process Supervisor-Water purification with five years’ experience.
- A valid Code B drivers’ license and the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 Test.
- Seven years of combined experience in a plant, pumping, water purification, as well as a supervisory environment is essential.
- Registered or eligible to register as a Class V Process Controller.
Primary Duties
- Raw water abstraction and ensuring that the flocculation, coagulation, disinfection, and filtration processes comply with the Rand Water and SANS standards.
- Controlling raw water abstraction via canal or intake pump and managing the water purification and distribution plant.
- Ensuring that the daily pumping orders are met.
- Performing switching & plant lockouts as well as pipeline isolations.
- Preparing daily and monthly reports and statistics.
- Supervising staff and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety aspects.
- Maintaining good labour relations in the section.
Knowledge
- Sound knowledge of operational procedures and regulations.
- Water purification and treatment processes.
- Operation of HV electrical equipment, dosing pumps, and large pumping units.
- Fault finding.
- Knowledge of OHS Act and its application.
- Knowledge and application of ISO14001 and ISO9001.
