Location: Hybrid - A blend of working from home and your nominated hub office, we have hubs in London, Bristol, Manchester and Oxford. Specific patterns for working in the office are not mandated, and the frequency of time worked in the office is agreed with your manager. Meeting in person is something we value so you may need to travel on occasion to any of our hub offices.

About the team:
The UX team sits within our Software development group and is made up of fellow UX practitioners who work together to solve business wide challenges, improve processes, and create operational efficiencies. Individuals work autonomously as embedded members of product teams, providing their specialist skills to deliver compelling user experiences.
Our solutions, typically digital, mean we have a close working relationship with developers who require high quality, tested and well documented UI design. However, we also work closely with product owners to help inform and shape product roadmaps, as well as researchers and analysts on uncovering user needs and gathering business intelligence.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a UX designer ready to take the next step in their career and help shape the user experience across Jisc’s products. In this role, you’ll take on real-world design challenges from start to finish, applying your UX expertise to create intuitive, user-friendly solutions. You’ll work collaboratively with a cross-functional team of designers, developers, and product managers, actively contributing to a user-first approach that drives innovation and impact.
Key Responsibilities:
• UX skills: Use UX methods to design seamless interfaces for our products and services, ensuring they’re both functional and engaging.
• Collaboration: Work closely with team members to bring ideas to life and refine them based on stakeholder and user feedback.
• Ownership: Lead various aspects of the design process—from conducting user research to creating wireframes, prototypes, and final designs.
• Development: Benefit from ongoing development opportunities through our skills framework to expand your UX knowledge and deepen your impact within the team.
Day-to-Day:
• Conducting and analysing user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability tests.
• Designing and iterating on user interfaces, wireframes, and prototypes.
• Facilitating workshops and feedback sessions to align on user-centered solutions.
• Presenting and advocating for your designs to stakeholders, ensuring solutions meet user and business needs.
About You:
You’re a proactive and passionate UX designer with a solid grasp of UX principles and a desire to create meaningful solutions. You enjoy taking ownership of your work, thrive in a collaborative environment, and are eager to continue learning.
At Jisc, we value in-person collaboration, so you’ll be comfortable with some travel to our Manchester office and other UK locations. These in-person meetings help us connect creatively, strengthen relationships, and build a strong team culture.
