Our team is seeking an Environmental Specialist who will be responsible formanaging environmental compliance at Amazon Transportation Services (ATS)Facilities within the UK & IE. They will also provide technical support at ourexisting operations and future expansion across the UK. The Environmental Specialist will report to the Environmental Leader for theUK through the EU Environmental Assurance and Protection team. The Environmental Specialist will also partner with the operations leadershipteams to execute company environmental procedures and ensure compliance withall applicable specific country, stateprovince, region and local regulations.Utilizing risk assessments and compliance evaluations, this individual willlead site specific continuous improvement initiatives to minimizeenvironmental aspects and impacts and communicate and implement bestpractices. They must be able to work with the teams to ensure success forbusiness support. This role entails 50% travel to multiple sites across theUKIreland. Responsibilities: • Manage and execute multi-site responsibilities to comply with air emissions,stormwater, waste, wastewater and other environmental related laws,regulations and permits. This includes required Country, StateProvince andlocal reporting • Participate in the development, introduction, control, improvement andapplication of environmental management control systems, procedures, processesand products • Measure and analyze sites’ performance against published requirements inenvironmental policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site toimplement and fix all identified deficiencies • Cooperate in contacts with the authorities and in the implementation of anynotification, permission and approval procedures according to environmentallaw (water waste water, pollution control, waste) • Participate in the annual data collection and reporting (internal, external)as well as controls (measurements, reviews) on environmentally relevantissues. Key job responsibilities •Assist in the implementation and enforcement of standards and policies tosupport environmental and regulatory compliance and provide guidance foroperations, maintenance and construction teams. • Complete environmental inspections and performance analysis, monitormetrics, undertake waste activities for the site and facilitate siteimplementation of Amazon environmental standards. • Manage and execute site responsibilities to comply with air emissions,surface water, wastewater, waste and other environmental related laws,regulations and permits. • Manage and prepare site specific environmental reporting to regulators andwithin Amazon. • Manage waste management activities, classification, reporting and permittingrequirements. • Execute waste, surface water site inspections. • Monitor and provide guidance on site performance against applicableenvironmental regulations, programs and Amazon global standards. • Support other sites with environmental compliance. • Ensure site leadership and employees training. • Analyse environmental metrics and review weekly and monthly trends todetermine where improvements are needed. • Execute site specific tasks associated with the implementation ofEnvironmental Programs. • Identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identifieddeficiencies. •Up to 50% domestic travel required. Once solutions are found you will find howto train the team, and have the right Standard Operating Procedures in placeto ensure continuous delivery. About the team The Environmental Assurance and Protection team protects Amazon businesses andsupports the needs of our customers by proactively mitigating environmentalregulatory risks and protecting the environment. ### BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • A completed Bachelor’s Degree in civil, chemical or environmentalengineering or related field of engineering study • Experience serving as an environmental technical resource, programspecialist, or program manager • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, includingcomfortable interfacing with site and regional leaders • In depth knowledge of EU, country and region specific regulations • Experience in engaging with Regulatory Agencies in permit applications ### PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS• Broad knowledge of EU environmental regulations • Experience in warehouse operations and logistics is preferred • Proficient in Microsoft Office and the use of pivot tables and thedevelopment of charts and graphics • Ability to manage multiple sitesremotely • Must be detailed minded and technically oriented to comfortably deep divewith engineering teams to understand operations process for environmental riskassessment. • Experience managing change in multiple site environments and the ability toinfluence peers and superiors Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
