Pembroke College is seeking a motivated and diligent individual to join our team as a Maintenance Assistant. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop practical skills while contributing to the upkeep and improvement of our historic college environment.
Start date: October/November 2024
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Normal working hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm; with some weekend shifts and occasional evening work
Salary: 26,000 per annum (including lunch and discounted travel pass)
Location: Pembroke College, St Aldate's, Oxford, OX1 1DW and other College sites in Oxford
Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor
Role Overview
As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be an integral part of our Maintenance Team, responsible for carrying out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks. You will support the upkeep and improvement of our college infrastructure, ensuring that all maintenance activities meet high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities

Perform various maintenance tasks promptly and to a high standard, working collaboratively with other maintenance team members.

Set up rooms and venues for conferences and other events, maintain the quads, and care for the boathouse and sports pavilion.

Support the delivery of the planned preventative maintenance program and small works projects.

Learn health and safety protocols and ensure compliance with them in all maintenance activities.

Operate basic equipment safely and maintaining a tidy work environment.

Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members, reporting task completion and any issues encountered.
Requirements

Educated to GCSE standard (English and Maths grade C or grade 4) or equivalent.

Demonstrates aptitude for maintenance skills through experience, qualifications, or references.

Strong punctuality, timekeeping, and work ethic.

Basic understanding of health and safety.

Ability to work at heights and meet the physical demands of the role.

Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel) is preferred.
