Health, Safety, & Environmental (SHE) Manager
Location: Chilton, South Durham, with occasional travel/support to sister site in Derby

We re looking for a proactive and professional SHE Manager to lead health, safety, and environmental excellence across our operations. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you ll be a hands-on leader in ensuring legal compliance, reducing environmental impact, and promoting a positive health and safety culture at every level of the organisation.
What you ll do to make a difference:
- Champion a proactive approach to health, safety, and environmental practices across the site.
- Ensure the business complies with all HSE legislation and maintain top safety standards.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents then lead the charge on improvements.
- Oversee safety training programs, audits, and risk assessments.
- Drive our environmental initiatives, including carbon footprint reduction and waste management.
- Work closely with all departments to promote a safety-first culture.
- Support the team at our sister site in Derby as needed.
What we are looking for from you:
- A charismatic personality with the ability to influence a variety of key stakeholders in the business.
- A NEBOSH/IOSH certificate or Diploma.
- Significant experience in a similar SHE Management or Officer role in a manufacturing environment (mandatory).
- A strategic mindset with the ability to drive HSE programs & policies.
- Strong communication skills + experience working with local authorities (HSE).
- Experience with ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001, and a strong understanding of safety legislation.
- Experience of leading internal audits & facilitating external audits.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding attention to detail and observant skills.
- Experience of carrying out in depth incident/accident investigations.
- Highly motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Be self motivating and able to work under minimum supervision when required.
- Well organised, good time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- A background in sheet metal or fabrication would be advantageous.
