Sharper Consulting Services is working on behalf of our client in Sussex, seeking a skilled and experienced Environmental Health Officer (EHO)/Noise and Acoustics Planning Consultant to review and assess planning applications for potential noise and acoustic impacts.
Rate: 40- 45 per hour
10 hours per week
You will provide expert advice to ensure that developments comply with relevant noise regulations and contribute to creating livable, sustainable environments.
Duties
- Provide expert advice on mitigation measures to control and reduce noise pollution.
- Ensure compliance with local and national planning policies, environmental standards, and noise regulations.
- Liaise with planning officers, developers, and other stakeholders regarding noise impact assessments.
- Conduct on-site visits (1-2 days per month) to verify compliance and conduct noise surveys when necessary.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for planning officers and committees.
- Stay up to date with relevant legislation, guidelines, and best practices in noise and acoustics planning.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in noise and acoustics assessment, particularly in the context of planning and development.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental noise regulations and standards.
- Diploma in Acoustics or equivalent qualification.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret noise data and technical reports.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively within a part-time schedule.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., Institute of Acoustics)
- BSc/MSc/Diploma in Environmental Health
