IVANHOE MINES is looking for an enthusiastic Senior Project Geophysicist prepared to travel to join our global mineral exploration team. Ivanhoe Mines is a leading Canadian mining company committed to becoming a global leader in the supply of critical resources required to transition our world to a low-carbon, renewable future. Ivanhoe is focused on developing and expanding its four principal mining and exploration projects in Southern Africa. The development of the Kamoa-Kakula copper mining complex in the Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC), the Platreef palladium-rhodium-platinum-nickel-copper-gold discovery in South Africa, the extensive redevelopment and upgrading of the historic Kipushi zinc-copper-germanium-silver mine, also in the Democratic Republic of Congo and exploration on the Western Foreland, near Kamoa-Kakula. Seeking a candidate ready to apply their interpretive skills to Ivanhoe Mine's search space at the intersection of hard rock mineral exploration and oil & gas basin analysis in the global search for sediment hosted copper deposits and other critical minerals needed for the energy transition. "Dare where others won't go, or think what others won't dare" - few can fund either, so most do neither Ivanhoe Mines is hiring Geoscientists with the expertise to grow the team that is doing both in the hunt for new global mineral discovery. Play your part in our team succeeding To oversee the acquisition, interpretation and management of all aspects of airborne and ground-based exploration geophysical data for Ivanhoe Mines. To collaborate closely with the Principle and Senior Project Geologists using a Basin Analysis/ Mineral Systems Approach to generate new mineralisation targets for follow-up To bridge the gap between Oil and Gas and sediment hosted copper mineral geophysical approaches and develop original and innovative hard rock, basin analysis driven geophysical workflows that will accelerate discovery of new copper and critical minerals deposits within Ivanhoe Mines' sediment hosted copper exploration project portfolio. To maximise the geological understanding extracted from geophysical data available to Ivanhoe Mines by generating 3D inversion and other earth models to image below shallow Kalahari sand cover and Karoo volcanic sequences.
