Reports to: General Manager: Engineering Support Position Overview: The Workshop Manager will oversee the operations of the Valves Assembly and Repairs Workshop, ensuring that all activities are performed efficiently and in compliance with safety and quality standards. This role involves managing a team of workshop staff, implementing efficient work standards and processes, and liaising with other departments to meet repair and assembly targets and maintain customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: Supervision & Leadership: Manage, motivate and lead a team of workshop staff, providing guidance and training as needed. Foster a positive and safe work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration. Operations Management: Oversee, organize and manage the daily operations of the repair and assembly workshop. Monitor and optimize resource allocation. Ensure that all workstations are correctly equipped with the required tools of the trade as well as that tools are regularly checked for quantity and functionality as per policy. Develop, implement and manage efficient workflow processes for general repairs and assembly requirements. Manage and ensure that policies and procedures are being adhered to for all work orders. Actively monitor and track Projects and Assignments to ensure timely completion. Ensuring that the workspaces are kept neat and tidy as per policy. Quality Control and Safety: Ensure that all workshop activities are performed in compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure the highest standards of workmanship and product quality. Conduct regular inspections to ensure work meets the highest standards Ensure that all non-conformances are recorded, address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions as necessary. Inventory Management Monitor and manage the workshops inventory, ensuring the availability of parts, tools, and materials required for assembly and repair activities. Implement inventory control systems to track the receiving of stock, stock levels, and return of stock to the stores. Conduct regular counts of inventory to ensure accuracy and prevent loss or discrepancies. Collaborate with the stores team to ensure efficient and timely movement of stock between stores and workshops. Budget Management Negotiate with local suppliers and departments / divisions. Ensure that all costs are contained and managed effectively. Actively identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. Ensure that all project labour and spares, as well as repairs are correctly quoted to meet budgeted margins. Customer Interaction Liaise with internal customers to understand their needs and ensure that the workshop delivers products and services that meet their expectations. Address any internal customer inquiries or concerns in a timely manner. General Oversee the workshop administration, and the workshops Embrace responsibilities. Such other duties as and when required by the Company Person Specification: Qualification in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Proven experience in workshop management, preferably in the valve or related industries. Strong understanding of valve products, manufacturing processes, and quality control standards.
