Role Overview:
Our client, a well-regarded accountancy practice, is seeking an Accountant to become a trusted partner for their clients, assisting with business operations, personal financial affairs, and future planning. This role involves providing options and advice based on accurate accounts, tax returns, and analysis.
General Duties:
- Verify bookkeeping records in client systems (primarily QuickBooks, with some using Xero, Sage, or spreadsheets)
- Review expenses, grants, and allowances not yet accounted for
- Prepare accounts in line with FRS105/FRS102 using TaxCalc
- Prepare company CT600 tax returns, claiming capital allowances and R&D tax credits where applicable
- Prepare self-assessment tax returns for various individuals, understanding all aspects of personal income
- Advise on long-term tax planning strategies, including asset protection
- Prepare budgets/forecasts to support reporting and funding applications
- Utilize Bright Manager to manage deadlines and workload, ensuring early contact with clients for necessary documents
- Build strong, long-lasting relationships with clients, adhering to principles of punctuality and reliability
- Manage client expectations regarding deadlines and potential penalties
- Maintain excellent communication with the practice director and team
- Develop relationships with partners in legal, investment, protection, and funding roles
To be considered for the role you will ideally have:
- Professional accounting qualification from a recognized body
- Excellent technical accounting skills for preparing financial statements and tax returns
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping systems, particularly QuickBooks and Xero
- Budgeting and forecasting skills for reporting and funding applications
- Comprehensive knowledge of the UK tax regime
- Familiarity with TaxCalc and Accountancy Manager systems
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
