Your new company
As a Residential worker, you will be working for the Ministry of Justice to keep the Approved Premises safe and secure for other members of staff and those currently living there.
Your new role
You will be part of a team providing 24-hour cover within the Approved Premises. This will include both security and care duties. You will be expected to assist in the well-being and supervision of residents, maintaining discipline and adherence to AP rules, whilst remaining social and understanding towards those housed in the AP. This post will involve substantial out of hours work, both nights and weekends.
Duties will include:
Undertake regular inspections of the building, including cellars and grounds throughout the period of duty, recording any occurrences/damage or defects, and monitor CCTV equipment
Maintain an active presence and regularly engage with residents in a pro-social manner. Contribute towards the protection of residents, such as assisting with risk assessments
Ensure that the AP is locked and secure during the curfew period. Confirm the presence and well-being of all residents overnight.
Supervise residents' meals, follow prescribed medication procedures including the issuing of medication to residents and both weekly and nightly audit of medication sheets, maintain hostel records and files as required, including data entry.
Deal with visitors and telephone calls, and monitor the work of visiting contractors in accordance with health and safety.
You will work 37 hours per week, including unsocial hours and weekends.
Hourly rate: 18.32 p/h (inclusive of holiday)
Weekday overtime: 20. 29 p/h (inclusive of holiday)
Weekend overtime: 26.70 p/h (inclusive of holiday)
What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience in a similar field, security and care work will be valuable. You will need to be a strong communicator, level-headed and security conscious. You will be able to work well in a team and have excellent interpersonal skills. You will be subject to full HMPPS clearance and an enhanced DBS.
