General Site Manager

Our client, a well-known brand, currently seeks an experienced General Site Manager, to direct and control all business activities relating to a specific manufacturing site, from sourcing and managing raw materials through to the manufacturing process, quality control, warehousing, and final distribution to the Company's customer base.
Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose of the Role:
- Overall responsibility for managing plant, premises and building facilities, and continuous improvement through lean initiatives, as well as improving plant efficiencies. This includes managing the workforce, maintaining discipline, as well as developing staff and building a dynamic team.
- Plan and direct all site activities through effective engagement and planning with the Management team.
- Take responsibility for related Admin, HR, IR, Maintenance, Asset Management, Risk Management, Facilities Management, Health and Safety, as well as Site Security.
- Provide training and ensure multi-skilling of staff and manage operational risk, and provide and maintain a secure and safe working environment.
- Develop annual site budgets and take responsibility/accountability for the management and control of all site costs.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Min 10 years’ experience in the manufacturing environment (FMCG, Furniture, Automotive, Clothing/Textile).
- Furniture Manufacturing experience, a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full factory management function.
- Manage, oversee and co-ordinate plant efficiencies to ensure they are maximised, and that daily production plans are completed.
- Maintain quality standards.
- Manage the on-time ordering and receiving of raw materials, and maintain an accurate stock control system.
- Manage subcontractors according to their agreed SLA's.
- Manage outstanding PODs within 60 days to approved level.
- Manage maintenance infrastructure and ensure a preventative maintenance plan.
- Manage and co-ordinate all offsite warehousing requirements.
- Manage the security infrastructure, safety of staff, plant, and assets.
- Lead the operational human capital interventions of the assigned business.
- Identify projects that would enhance the performance of the operation.
- Show year-on-year improvement on efficiencies by applying Lean techniques and plant redesign and layout improvements.
- Provide budgets for wage and salary staff.
- Provide budgets for manufacturing and distribution expenses.
- Provide budgets for responsible site.
- Budget for plant and vehicle requirements, together with Management.
- Co-ordinate safety or regulatory compliance activities with zero findings.
- Determine operational compliance with regulations or standards.
- Analyse environmental regulations to ensure organisational compliance.
- Measure site sales and profitability.
- Ensure Health & Safety rules and regulations are adhered to and take corrective or disciplinary action where necessary.
- Analyse split of deliveries between own fleet and subcontractors.
- Analyse lost time on plant and budget for replacement plant when necessary.
- Plan labour and overtime requirements, based on forecast for each month.
- Co-ordinate daily shop floor meetings.
- Attend management meetings.

Package & Remuneration
R1.2 million per annum (cost to company) - negotiable
