Perishables Inventory Department Manager
Salary R30,000 based on qualification and experience
No bonus
Main purpose:
To plan, coordinate and manage the daily operations, including employees, expenditure, efficiencies, and customer relations to ensure a profitable and efficient operation, by those accountable and tasks are executed timeously and effectively.
Ensure that the warehouse operates at peak efficiency by achieving departmental KPIs and managing shrinkage optimally. A hands-on leader, who is a good team player will be the ideal candidate
Responsibilities:
• Understand SAP and all SOP’s / BP’s relevant to this area of responsibility
• Ensure the shift structures and staffing levels are appropriate to ensure efficient operations and that all are carrying out their job functions correctly & efficiently
• To lead investigations of all incidents and non-compliances and conduct root cause and reports thereof as required.
• Facilitate housekeeping audits regularly, and corrective action is taken if required
• Identify improvement opportunities where needed
• Identify and communicate possible operational risks
• Evaluate the impact of work delays, interruptions or changes in plans and develop appropriate course of remedial actions
• Ensure that ECG monitor is cleared by the end of each shift and any problems are escalated
• Ensure all bins are setup correctly and available for use
• Ensure article master data is correct.
• Ensure all case and inner picks are allocated to the correct areas.
• Ensure all transgressors are identified and escalated to the operations team for progressive discipline.
• Ensure you have responded to all request from management and demand planning before the end of shift.
• Ensure all PI docs have been cleared and all high write-ups and write-offs have been corrected before the end of shift.
• Ensure all interim storage locations have been cleared and any issues escalated by the end of shift.
• Manage all performance management aspects of direct reports and facilitate the same within the rest of the departments. Inclusive of One on ones, PDPs, IPAs and LOE.
• Facilitate an engaged and motivated workforce.
• Manage discipline and grievance aspects of all direct reports and facilitate the same within the rest of the departments.
• Check all write-ups for the shift and make sure all irregular SLED dated have been verified and corrected where applicable.
• Ensure proper insight is given on shrinkage and provide feedback on weekly financial reporting.
• Ensure that SOH is maintained, and that the FIFO principle is followed
Skills & Experience Requirements: Physical Requirements:
• 3 - 4 years’ experience in Supply Chain / Warehousing environment and SAP
• Relevant Tertiary qualification preferred • Willing & able to work shifts, long hours (12-hour shifts)
• High degree of attention required • Willing & able to work on weekends/PH
• In depth knowledge of inventory – SAP EWM required Ability to accurately track & identify products, check quantities and ensure proper storage and organising • Regularly lift and/or move objects occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh around 35kg
• Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner • Fit & in good health (Inherent physical requirements of the job)
• Competence in performing quality control checks • Willing & able to work at heights and confined (Narrow areas)
• Easily identify article master data knowledge • Having good eye-hand-foot coordination
• Sense of urgency and deadline driven • Ability to assess weights and judge distances and height.
• Ownership and responsibility towards work • Willing & able to be multiskilled within other roles and work in other departments when required
