Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage design teams in the detail design of water and sanitation projects.
- Oversee the production of technical drawings, designs, and reports.
- Supervise junior staff throughout the project lifecycle (planning, design, tender, implementation, and close-out stages).
- Design water retention facilities, stormwater drainage systems, flood control structures, urban sewer reticulation, pump stations, and bulk pipelines.
- Manage project quality, budgets, and timelines, ensuring all deliverables meet client expectations.
- Liaise with clients, government entities, and stakeholders.
- Conduct hydrological investigations and determine flood lines.
- Mentor and train junior staff, fostering growth and technical development.
- Oversee the preparation of tenders, contracts, and proposals to generate new business opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
- BSc or BTech in Civil Engineering.
- Registered Pr Eng/Pr Tech Eng with ECSA.
- 5-10 years of experience in the water and sanitation field, including experience leading design teams.
Skills & Experience:
- Expertise in municipal projects including pump stations, water and sewer reticulation, bulk pipelines, and stormwater management.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, iDAS, HEC-RAS, EPANET, and WaterCAD. Familiarity with ArcGIS, StormCAD, WADISO, and SSA will be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of contract preparation, including GCC, FIDIC, or NEC.
- Experience with international funding agencies (e.g., World Bank, EU) and PPP projects is a plus.
- Independent worker with leadership and mentoring skills.
Advantageous Qualifications & Memberships:
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Active membership in CESA/SAICE/WISA.
- NQF7 in Labour-Based Construction, Pr CPM, and/or PMP qualifications.
