The Opportunity
The Commercial Analyst is responsible for growing and managing strategic relationships within the payments ecosystem while shaping and implementing market-facing pricing strategies. This role aims to position our offerings prominently with key stakeholders and partners to maximise mutual benefits, drive business growth, and maintain a competitive edge in the market.
Partnership Development and Management
- Identify, engage, and manage relationships with both direct and indirect stakeholders within the payment industry to expand business reach and optimise market opportunities.
- Develop and implement strategic partnership initiatives that align with Electrum/s objectives and drive mutual growth.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration and execution of partnership initiatives.
- Establish the organisation as a preferred partner by gaining insights into the competitive environment and providing strategic recommendations.
- Conduct due diligence and coordinate with internal stakeholders to assess the commercial, product, and systems alignment of potential partnerships.
Commercial Strategy and Pricing
- Analysing market data, internal cost structures, and industry trends can help shape the market-facing pricing strategy for specific products and solutions.
- Develop and maintain competitive pricing structures tailored to tier-1 enterprises in the payment technology space.
- Identify opportunities for revenue optimisation through strategic pricing adjustments, bundling strategies, and value-added offerings.
- Assess the effectiveness of existing pricing strategies across product sets and make relevant adjustments to capitalise on opportunities or mitigate risks.
Analytics and Market Insights
- Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to identify pricing trends, benchmark against industry competitors, and inform pricing strategies.
- Utilise advanced analytical tools and techniques to analyse financial data, including revenue trends, cost structures, and profitability metrics, to develop pricing models that emphasise value delivery.
- Implement statistical and predictive modelling techniques to forecast transaction volumes, pricing elasticity, and revenue impacts.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and compliance requirements relevant to pricing and payment processing in the financial services sector.
Business Development
- Support the pursuit and execution of new business opportunities by identifying market trends and developing strategies that drive revenue growth through strategic partnerships.
- Support the Sales and partnerships teams with pricing models and the commercial models that progress qualified enterprise sales pipeline.
- Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Finance teams, as well as external industry stakeholders, to support deal pursuits and close new business opportunities.
Communication and Implementation
- Lead the communication and implementation of pricing changes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Present pricing analysis and market insights at relevant meetings, supporting the sales team in developing compelling business cases, negotiating deals, and closing sales opportunities.
- Engage in commercial negotiations and presentations with both internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field. A Professional designation is preferable.
- Postgraduate degree in Commerce or Finance
- Referencable experience in commercial strategy, revenue management, or related roles within the financial services or technology sector
Skills
- Referencable experience in developing and executing market-facing pricing strategies.
- Experience in market research, data analytics, and financial modeling.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Ability to stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and competitive dynamics.
