Position Purpose
- Safeguard Transnet and ICT’s interests and reputation by protecting the organisation’s computer network from internal and external threats.
- Contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of ICT by proactively monitoring the computer network, implementing proactive mitigating controls to safeguard the organization’s networks and systems.
• Deployment and management of security systems that provide network security capabilities such as firewalls, intrusion prevention, load balancing and proxy.
• Identifying and investigating security breaches and other security incidents.
• Design, implementation and management of network architecture and security controls.
• Network monitoring, detection and prevention of anomalies.
• Performing network security reviews of existing and new services (IT, OT, Cloud).
• Monitoring of application and network anomalies.
• Implementation of company wide best practices for IT/Cyber security.
• Researching emerging threats, security best practices and technologies; and recommending preventative security enhancements to management.
• Participation in forensics of network security incidents.
• Collaborate with the security teams within the Transnet Operating Divisions to implement security controls and to mitigate emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
• Understanding and implementation of Security Benchmarks (e.g. CIS, SANS Top 20, etc.)
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications, Experience and Inherent Job Requirements:
- National Diploma or bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 10 years relevant experience.
- Relevant certification such as CISSP, CISM, CEH will be beneficial.
- ITIL certification.
- Network security certification such as Security+, Network+, CCNA, CCNP or equivalent certification.
- Network Security Vendor certification will be advantageous (e.g. Palo Alto, Checkpoint, CISCO, Fortinet, etc.)
