Main objective of the role:
To handle Underwriting functions through accurate, efficient, timeous processing of proposal forms, risk acceptance and management, and handling of broker and client queries within various SLAs, SOPs, and turnaround times.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Effectively maintaining underwriting standards and providing quality client services.
- All risk acceptance and management of risk.
- Issuing new policies, renewals, and endorsements on the operating system and ensuring all documents are correct and accurate.
- Underwrite following the company standards, policies, and procedures.
- Evaluating veterinary histories for ongoing risk.
- Upgrade/downgrades of policies.
- NCD (no claims discount) management.
- Benefit Boosters approvals and chronic approvals.
- Chronic and multi-claimant management.
- Administration and written communication with clients and brokers.
- Assist policy administrators/sales support with associated tasks within the division.
Qualifications and Experience required:
- Grade 12 /NQF4 with Mathematics.
- NQF4 in Short-Term Insurance or studying towards (advantageous).
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in short-term insurance.
- RE5 or studying towards such a qualification.
- Knowledge of pet insurance would be preferable.
- Computer skills – all MS Office packages and Excel.
- Excellent admin skills, accuracy, and detail oriented.
- Time-management skills (planning and organizing).
- Analytical ability.
- High stress tolerance and ability to work under pressure with no supervision.
- Well-versed in Business English – written and spoken.
