Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Branch Manager to join the team in Durban. This individual will be responsible to the Branch Manager for the management of the day-to-day operational services/sites within the Durban region to ensure that an efficient and high-quality commodity surveying service is provided in order to meet reporting deadlines and priorities agreed with AHK Head Office and clients.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Required Competencies
- Ability to demonstrate literacy and be numerate
- Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organizational control of branch operations and customer service
- Trained in conflict management and effective interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of general business software and aptitude to learn new applications; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Good interpersonal skills
- To be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Demonstrate ability to lead
- Can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal
- Ability to work from own initiative with minimum supervision
- Adaptable and flexible
- Demonstrate good attention to details
- To be able to work in a team
- Good timekeeping
- Energetic and a self-starter
- Must have sober habits
- No criminal record
- Commitment to safe work practices
- Must have own transport and a valid driver’s license
Required Qualifications
- Tertiary Operations Management, Business Management, Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering Qualification
- Management Certificate would be an advantage
- Knowledge of sampling methodology
- Highly proficient in English (verbal and written)
- Must be computer literate - Microsoft Office Suite
Required work experience
- 5-10 years’ experience in Chemical Field
- 5-10 Years’ experience in a Management position including managing / leading a group of people
- Knowledge of the different laws (Labour, Safety etc)
- 3 Years minimum experience in Commodity Surveying, specific to metals and minerals commodities
