Key Performance Areas
The role will focus on increasing the sales & profitability of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for the company by:
- Managing the BESS product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.
- Responsible for providing the sales team with the necessary technical expertise to enable them to sell the product.
- Effectively manage sales and promotional resources to achieve targeted sales within an agreed period.
- Act as point of first reference for all product related enquiries and work collaboratively with colleagues in Product Development & Technical to address any issues that may arise.
- Specifying market requirements for current product by conducting market research supported by ongoing visits to customers and non-customers.
- Developing and implementing a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute.
- Analyzing potential partner relationships for the product.
- In collaboration with Marketing, responsible for the development of advertising, promotion and sales aids in accordance with the BESS promotional plan.
- Responsible for preparing product forecasts, and constantly monitoring the market for tenders, enquiries and other sales opportunities.
- Prepare and present BESS internal reports to the relevant executives, sales personnel and other departments, on a regular basis.
- Attend and participate in product development meetings in order to continue adding more value based on market trends.
- Develop key opinion leader support for the BESS project.
Key Short-term Strategic Goals
- Develop a sales/business plan for BESS in 2024 and beyond.
- Drive sales growth in 2024.
- Put in place effective processes and procedures to drive BESS sales.
- Galvanize the sales team activities towards achieving the set targets.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant tertiary degree or work experience is a strong plus.
- Not less than 3 years relevant sales and business development experience.
- Knowledgeable in BESS industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Assertive / Persuasive.
- Attention to detail.
- Analytical.
- Initiative.
- Works well under pressure.
- Ensures consistency and accuracy of message.
- Delivers unified, consistent brand message to all stakeholders.
- Supports teams with valuable, targeted programs to drive business.
This position requires travel to customer and non-customer sites in the Southern Africa region.
