Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Derbyshire, is currently looking to recruit a Chief Finance Officer for a 3 month contract on a rate around £850 a day (Inside IR35). This role will be a hybrid working model. Responsibilities:The CFO is the financial leader, responsible for financial performance and strategy of the ICB, ensuring resources are deployed for optimal care delivery.Works closely with other ICB executives to develop long-term financial strategies that integrate the priorities of partner organizations within the ICS.Builds partnerships across the ICS, including providers, public health, local government, and community sectors, to drive transformational change.Provides financial leadership across the system, focusing on improving population health outcomes, breaking down barriers, and driving innovation.Collaborates with ICB members on digital transformation, workforce planning, and population health management to deliver continuous health improvements.Accountable for identifying and managing financial risks and issues, ensuring effective financial governance and performance monitoring.Supports the ICB in meeting statutory financial duties, acting as a professional financial advisor, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.Leads the development of a Medium Term Financial Plan (MTFP) and system-wide financial strategies to ensure effective use of resources.Ensures robust financial control, reporting, risk management, and budgetary processes are in place to meet ICB's objectives.Represents the ICB at external forums and the media on finance-related matters and engages with key stakeholders, including NHS England, local authorities, and healthcare providers.Ensures the ICB contributes to reducing health inequalities by promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion across the ICS.Responsible for managing financial and contracting performance, ensuring compliance with standing financial instructions, and addressing underperformance.Promotes data-driven decision-making and financial improvements to enhance patient safety and care delivery.Provides professional leadership within the finance directorate, ensuring development, mentoring, and talent management of finance staff.Ensures the finance function supports the delivery of strategic system objectives, including financial balance, quality improvement, and value for money.Essential Skills:Qualified accountant with current membership and ongoing professional development.Substantial leadership experience at the board or system level, with a track record of managing transformational change.Strong knowledge of healthcare, financial planning, governance, and the social determinants of public health.Exceptional communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders and contribute to strategic decision-making.Commitment to NHS values, equality, diversity, and continuous improvement.Desirable Skills:Experience in health economics or related qualifications.If you would like to hear more about this opportunity please get in touch.
