Purpose of the job: Development of products and general technical support. Key Performance Areas Product Development · Design and develop new products using 3D and 2D CAE. · Ensure the product development SOP and all related documentation are being followed and completed correctly. · Design and manufacture of prototypes, jigs and off tool samples and specifying the processes required to manufacture the product. · Create engineering drawings to the correct specification. · Coordinate with production to manufacture the parts for prototyping and off tool samples. · Fabricate models based on an approved concept that can be tested. · After reviewing the approved concept, the development engineer must then deliver specifications and procedures to manufacturing teams in order for production to begin. This includes designing of all necessary jigs. · Conduct fitments of prototype and off-tool products. · Supervise Preproduction Trials and ensure all aspects are complete prior to hand over. · Work efficiently in order to meet strategic goals and satisfy customer requirements. Continuous Improvement · Support Continuous Improvement initiatives. · Research and analyse different materials, manufacturing processes, design tolerances and other factors in the developmental process. Customer · Interact with external and internal customers in a professional manner. Finance · Work within budget during the development process. · Maintain good time keeping skills and the efficient usage of company time. · Ensure all MRP BOMs are captured correctly and reflect all the components and processes of the physical part to ensure accurate costing & MRP planning. · Protect company assets (working capital & fixed assets). · Detect and prevent fraud. · Promote good Corporate Governance. SHEQ · Comply with the requirements of the Quality Management Systems. · Adhere to and enforce compliance to company SHEQ policy. · Be mindful of SHEQ issues in the development and hand over process and that these are designed out of the products manufacture, fitment and operation. · Identify potential hazards and critical safety issues in the workplace. · Address workplace hazards and risks immediately · Work safely and use safety equipment.
