The Role:
Support the lead tooling engineer with mould tool design and sustaining functions, from design concept to production, ensuring efficiency and compliance with company procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop new moulds and tooling.
- Support legacy tooling maintenance, repairs, and improvements.
- Manage tooling assets and conduct tooling audits.
- Ensure tool design complies with health and safety legislation.
- Utilise Six Sigma principles to meet objectives and improve processes.
- Conduct process verifications using SPC data and prepare process improvement recommendations.
- Assist with training manufacturing personnel for new equipment and processes.
- Work closely with Maintenance to ensure equipment uptime.
- Evaluate and manage capex investments.
Education:
- Degree, HND, or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Polymer Technology, with rubber mould tool design experience.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Strong communication skills and technical knowledge of polymers and manufacturing processes.
- Analytical tool design experience and 3D CAD proficiency.
- Hands-on practical skills with a self-starter attitude.
Desirable:
- Experience with SolidWorks, CAE, FEA techniques, and respirator product design.
- Prototyping and testing skills.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years in tooling design and rubber moulding for production components.
