Project Construction Management
- Manages staff on site and provides leadership guidance and mentorship.
- Administers contracts independently.
- Manage the site aspects of large complex projects and makes construction management recommendations on alternate solutions to problems.
- Analyses a contractual claim and makes suitable recommendations to the engineer.
- Prepares and presents construction management report, institutes change in the methods.
- Supervises contractors on site on behalf of a client and ensures adherence to construction scope of work, which includes attending to site meetings and site instructions.
- Manages a group of Assistant Resident Engineers.
- Makes engineering decisions independently with recommendations.
- Maintains contract records in accordance with The Contract and Statutory Requirements.
- Records labour, material, plant and equipment usage by the contractor and prepares reports accordingly.
- Prepares attendance registers and takes and prepares minutes of site meetings.
- Carries out Performance Appraisals on site staff under his control.
- Assists with training of emerging contractors before and during construction.
- Assists the contractors with the interpretation of the contract technical specifications and drawings.
- Liaises with the community, municipalities and where necessary departmental officials on construction related matters.
- Provides project progress information to the design team for monthly reporting for the client.
- Fully versed on best practice documents that are available.
- Ensures full and accountable compliance to the NC Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensures financial control and reporting on contracts.
- Ensures contract specifications and contractual obligations are fully complied with project construction management.
Health and Safety, Contract Administration and Procurement
- Ensures that the site operates in accordance with the current Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Stays current on new safety and construction codes and legislation.
- Maintains Contract records in accordance with The Contract and Statutory Requirements.
- Prepares the Contract Payment Certificates in accordance with the Specific Project Requirements.
- Attends site inspections, pre and post Tender Workshop, site meetings when called upon to do so.
- Informs Client of hand-over meeting and prepares completion and final certification.
- Calculates and prepares material requests and orders materials on behalf of the Client for contractors when necessary.
- Records labour, material, plant and equipment usage by the contractor and prepares reports thereon.
- Prepares close out reports.
- Undertakes site audits in accordance to the NC QMS.
- Advises the Engineer regarding claims on projects and prepares initial response.
- Analyses SEQ and provides recommendations to the Engineer.
Tendering and Marketing Activities
- Develops personal relationships with, and professional respect of, your peers and superiors in Naidu and the clients with whom you interact.
- Develops close working relationships with, and professional respect of, your peers and superiors in Naidu Consulting.
- Develops a close working relationship with, and professional respect of, the clients with whom you interact.
- Attends Naidu Consulting sponsored and industry functions and effectively “network” on behalf of the company.
- Assists in drawing up tenders and/or writing proposals independently.

Developing Self and Others
- Provides technical guidance and mentorship to assistant resident engineers, junior engineers and technicians working for you.
- Through proper exploration of engineering principles and concepts, effectively briefs both site and office junior engineering staff and draughts people.
- Assists others in achieving professional registration by continued participation in the mentorship scheme and the spontaneous mentoring of others.
- Achieves continued Professional Development through regular attendance at industry seminars and workshops.
- Takes post-graduate courses in line with own and company development requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science /Technology/National Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Registered with ECSA as a Professional Civil Engineer/Technologist respectively.
- Maintains professional registration on an ongoing basis.
Experience
- 7 - 8 years’ (Pr.Eng and/or Pr.Tech) or 15 years (NDip) relevant experience in a Civil Engineering Consultancy Environment.
